Art by the Sea
Where Creativity Meets Conservation
Art by the Sea is our signature festival that brings together youth, families, and communities - all on the beach for a day of exploration, connection, and creative expression. Set against the stunning backdrop of South Florida’s coastline, this immersive event invites young people to play, create ocean-inspired art and videos, share stories, and deepen their relationship with the sea.
For many of our youth participants, despite having lived in Miami or South Florida their entire lives, this is their very first opportunity to experience the ocean up close. It's a gateway to environmental awareness, scientific curiosity, and artistic empowerment. The event is designed to foster a sense of wonder and stewardship, helping young people understand the importance of protecting our planet’s most precious resource: our oceans.
Looking Back - and Forward
Our last Art by the Sea event in 2019 was a vibrant celebration of community, creativity, and ocean love. Held in St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands, we connected 45 youth with international and local artists who created a series of culturally sensitive public artworks to raise environmental awareness in the community, which was devastated by Hurricane Maria.
Now, after a few years of reflection and growth, we’re thrilled to announce that Art by the Sea is coming back in 2025 - bigger, bolder, and more impactful than ever. With new collaborations, immersive storytelling experiences, and even more opportunities for young leaders to express their vision for a cleaner, more just ocean future, we can’t wait to bring this powerful event to life once again. Stay tuned for the next wave!

Art by the Sea in St. Croix
Art by the Sea made waves in St. Croix, bringing together local youth, marine scientists, and artists for a one-of-a-kind experience. This activation showed just how powerful art can be in communicating science by sparking emotion, connection, and curiosity.
Discovering the Ocean in Our Own Backyard
Many locals have yet to dive into the magic of the ocean right outside their door. The 2018 ArtSea Festival at Historic Virginia Key Beach Park changed that—offering young people and their families a day filled with hands-on ocean discovery, creativity, and community.
